NAC Breda climbed to fifth place after Charles-Andreas Brym’s early goal secured a 1-0 home victory over MVV Maastricht. The forward struck in the fifth minute at a rain-soaked Rat Verlegh Stadion, registering his fifth goal of the season and extending his scoring run to four consecutive matches.

Gabriel Misehouy started because Moussa Soumano had not come through the training week fully fit. Misehouy had an opportunity inside the penalty area during NAC’s bright opening spell, but directed his shot at MVV goalkeeper Hugo Wentges. The visitors grew into the contest before half-time and began to pose a greater threat around the NAC box.

MVV also started the second half strongly, breaking forward dangerously three times, but NAC defended with numbers to protect their lead. Brym later tested Wentges with a first-time effort following a move involving captain Mohamed Nassoh, before another piece of individual skill was stopped by an MVV defender.

NAC created chances to make the result safe. Kamal Sowah slipped as he prepared to meet a well-placed Nassoh cross, while substitute Mylan Brouwers was denied by the alert Wentges after Max Balard’s through ball. The second goal never arrived, but NAC’s work rate helped them preserve the clean sheet. Their next fixture is away to Helmond Sport.
