Bosz reveals Dest’s unusual late-night call over PSV training coverage
The PSV defender contacted his coach after midnight to raise concerns about the lack of cameras and photographers at training.
PSV coach Peter Bosz has shared an unusual story about receiving a late-night phone call from defender Sergiño Dest, whose concern turned out to be the club’s approach to media access at training.
Speaking during a lecture in Eindhoven, Bosz said his phone rang at 12.15am and that he was initially worried because players do not usually call their coach at that hour. Dest quickly reassured him that nothing was wrong before raising an unexpected complaint about PSV’s marketing.
According to Bosz’s account, Dest was unhappy that photographers and camera crews were not allowed to attend the club’s training sessions. The defender wanted more footage and images to share as content with his followers. Bosz was surprised by the subject and told Dest they would discuss it the following day because he wanted to return to sleep.
Bosz nevertheless viewed the call with some amusement and admiration. “I also like that he dares to call,” he said, as quoted by De Telegraaf. The PSV coach added that he himself would never have phoned his own manager in the middle of the night.
