PSV coach Peter Bosz has criticised ESPN’s handling of an interview with Noah Fernandez, arguing that editing changed how the teenager’s comments about his playing time came across. Fernandez spoke after appearing for Jong PSV in Monday’s 2-0 home defeat by NAC Breda.

In the broadcast footage, the 18-year-old Belgian midfielder said he had not yet truly been given an opportunity to show himself in PSV’s first team. He added that the situation was difficult and that he had discussed it with Bosz, while declining to reveal the contents of their private conversations.

Bosz defended the player at Tuesday’s press conference. According to FCUpdate, the coach said Fernandez had expressed himself properly but that the interview had been cut in a way that altered its meaning. Bosz also complained about the pursuit of “everything for clicks”. ESPN had not responded to his criticism at the time of the report.

The dispute emerged as PSV prepared to host Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday. Bosz confirmed that Paul Wanner remains unavailable after suffering an injury while on international duty with Austria and is not expected back until after the next international break later in November. Ricardo Pepi, who returned as a substitute during PSV’s 7-0 win over Willem II at the weekend, is in principle ready to start against the Belgian champions.
