PSV added Ayoni Santos to their squad near the end of the transfer window, with the 21-year-old attacker and winger making the switch from Sparta Rotterdam. His arrival came during the same late-window period in which PSV also brought in Sami Ouaissa, Sam Lammers and Mikkel Bro Hansen.

The move developed quickly, according to Santos’s older brother Monteiro. The Cape Verde international told VI PRO that interest emerged around two weeks before the deal was completed shortly before the deadline. He said the brothers spoke regularly about the possible transfer as events gathered pace.

PSV were not the only club interested in Santos, but the player was particularly keen on the move to Eindhoven. Monteiro believes the Dutch champions are well suited to his younger brother and was pleased that Santos had attracted their attention. “He really wanted to go to PSV,” Monteiro told VI.

Santos can operate as a central attacker or from a wide position. His move gives PSV another young attacking option while bringing his spell at Sparta Rotterdam to an end. The report did not identify the other clubs that had shown interest or provide further details about the terms of the transfer.
