Arokodare embraces Míchel’s energetic approach at Ajax

Tolu Arokodare has spoken positively about his first weeks at Ajax, highlighting Míchel’s energetic coaching style and the warm welcome he has received from the squad. The forward said the club’s supporters have also made a strong impression, while he appreciates the calm and clean surroundings in the Netherlands.

Arokodare described Míchel as a demanding but approachable coach who combines a strong work ethic and fighting mentality with a sense of fun. He said the coach regularly joins the players during rondos and is willing to apologise when he makes a mistake. In comments reported by VI, Arokodare called him “a great coach”.

The striker also pointed to Míchel’s expressive personality. According to Arokodare, the coach openly shows players when he is pleased with them and once had a photograph of the pair holding hands shared in the team’s group chat. Although Míchel’s English remains a work in progress, Arokodare said his phrasing can bring humour to team meetings and that the coach is working hard to improve.

Beyond his relationship with Míchel, Arokodare said he has already recognised a collective winning mentality at Ajax. He believes everyone at the club wants to be the best and that the squad must maintain that standard as it attempts to return to the top this season. The forward said that ambition is something he enjoys and is prepared to give everything for.
