Ajax supporter Asscher jokes about Tottenham move for PSV boss Bosz
The former Dutch deputy prime minister praised PSV after their 3-1 victory in Amsterdam but suggested Ajax would benefit if Peter Bosz left Eindhoven.
Former Dutch deputy prime minister Lodewijk Asscher has jokingly expressed hope that Tottenham Hotspur will try to take Peter Bosz from PSV during the winter break. The prominent Ajax supporter made the remark on X after attending Saturday’s Eredivisie meeting between the clubs.
Bosz’s PSV earned a 3-1 victory at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, leaving Asscher impressed by the Eindhoven side. As quoted by FCUpdate, he described PSV as an “excellent team” before adding that he hoped Bosz would move to Spurs in the winter. His comment was framed as a light-hearted reaction to Ajax’s defeat rather than a report of interest from Tottenham.
Asscher also found positives in Ajax’s performance. He praised Julian Brandt and said youngsters Aaron Bouwman and Jorthy Mokio had played well. Tolu Arokodare, who scored Ajax’s only goal, was described by Asscher as possessing “pure quality”.
PSV winger Ruben van Bommel also caught his eye, although Asscher believed the player should have been sent off following his much-discussed collision with Bouwman. Tottenham, meanwhile, opened their Premier League season with defeats by Brentford and Newcastle United before collecting their first point in a goalless draw away to Nottingham Forest.
