Ajax reshape squad as Eredivisie summer transfer business accelerates
Marc ter Stegen, Daley Blind and Marcos Leonardo are among the arrivals in Amsterdam, while AZ have brought Calvin Stengs back from Feyenoord.
Ajax have completed a substantial overhaul during the Eredivisie summer transfer window, according to FCUpdate’s transfer overview. Goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen has arrived on loan from Barcelona, while Julian Brandt joined as a free agent on a contract until 2029. Marcos Leonardo signed from Al-Hilal until 2031 and Daley Blind moved from Girona on a deal running to 2027.
The Amsterdam club have also added Caio Henrique from Monaco and Jano Monserrate from Atlético Madrid, both until 2030. Tolu Arokodare has joined on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers with an option to buy. Among the departures, Wout Weghorst signed for FC Twente until 2028, Sean Steur moved to Newcastle United and Kian Fitz-Jim left for Torino.
AZ have recruited Calvin Stengs from Feyenoord on a contract until 2027. Their other arrivals include Jari De Busser from Go Ahead Eagles, Andrea Natali from Bayer Leverkusen and Sam de Grand from Lommel. Sven Mijnans headed in the opposite direction, joining PSV on a deal through 2031, while Zico Buurmeester moved to CD Leganés.
Elsewhere, Excelsior borrowed Aymen Sliti and Jan Plug from Feyenoord and signed several players, including Celton Biai from FC Dordrecht and David Garden from Quick Boys. The window opened on 22 June, with Eredivisie clubs given until Tuesday 2 September to complete further additions.
