Ajax have sent Youri Regeer and Maher Carrizo out on loan until the end of the season as their extensive summer overhaul continues. Regeer has joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, whose agreement includes an option to buy the 23-year-old midfielder.

Regeer had featured regularly since returning from FC Twente for €4.5 million a year and a half ago. He made 49 appearances following that move and started matches under new coach Míchel Sánchez early this season. However, NU.nl reports that Sofyan Amrabat’s arrival reduced his prospects of playing time. Regeer remains under contract with Ajax until the summer of 2029.

Carrizo, meanwhile, has moved to FC Copenhagen on a season-long loan without a purchase option. The 20-year-old Argentine winger arrived last winter as one of technical director Jordi Cruijff’s first major signings, but faced competition from new arrival Viktor Tsygankov and Steven Berghuis.

The two loans take Ajax’s number of summer departures to 16, following exits including Mika Godts to Paris Saint-Germain, Sean Steur to Newcastle United and Wout Weghorst to FC Twente. Nine players have arrived so far, among them Daley Blind, Julian Brandt and Marc ter Stegen, the latter on loan from Barcelona. Ajax are still hoping to recruit a replacement for Godts before the Dutch transfer window closes on Wednesday at 23:59.
