Ajax have reportedly made an opening bid for Club América winger Brian Rodríguez as they search for a successor to Mika Godts. FCUpdate, citing Mexican outlet Récord, says the Amsterdam club have identified the 26-year-old Uruguay international as their preferred option.

Récord describes Ajax’s proposal as a substantial one worth more than $10 million. A separate social-media report initially placed the offer at €14 million before correcting that figure to $14 million, equivalent to approximately €12 million. Neither Ajax nor Club América is reported to have confirmed the bid.

Rodríguez has been with América since 2022 and has recorded 42 goals and 28 assists across 157 competitive appearances for the Mexican club. The left winger has also earned 36 caps for Uruguay since making his international debut in 2019. He appeared from the bench in all three of Uruguay’s matches at the most recent World Cup.

Ajax’s need for a new wide attacker follows Godts’ move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer for a reported fee of around €55 million. The 21-year-old Belgian left Ajax after registering 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances last season. Rodríguez is now being presented in reports as the player Ajax want to fill that vacancy, but the prospective transfer remains unconfirmed.
