Ajax goalkeeper Paul Reverson joins De Graafschap on loan

Ajax goalkeeper Paul Reverson has joined De Graafschap on loan after the clubs reached an agreement over the 21-year-old’s move. The deal also gives De Graafschap an option to buy him, although the value of that clause has not been disclosed.

Reverson’s Ajax contract is due to expire, but the Amsterdam club retain an option to extend it by two years. His departure creates additional room in Ajax’s wage budget while offering the goalkeeper an opportunity to secure more regular playing time in professional football.

The 1.94-metre-tall goalkeeper has made 30 Keuken Kampioen Divisie appearances for Jong Ajax across the past two seasons. He made his professional debut on 29 November 2024 but has yet to feature officially for Ajax’s first team, despite being regularly involved with the senior squad and attending its summer training camp for a third successive year.

Born in Amsterdam, Reverson first entered Ajax’s academy at the age of eight. He left in 2019 before returning from AFC in 2022 and signing his first professional contract in August 2024. The goalkeeper, who also holds Ghanaian nationality, trained with Ghana’s national side earlier this year ahead of the World Cup but was not included in the final squad. His switch to De Graafschap now provides a clearer route to first-team minutes.
