Ajax exits collapse as Gakpo, Pepi and Hadj Moussa also stay put

Owen Wijndal remains an Ajax player after a proposed contract termination and free transfer fell apart late in the summer window. According to Voetbal International, Ajax and the left-back had agreed to end his deal, but the prospective new club withdrew. The parties then abandoned the termination, even though Wijndal had already said goodbye to his team-mates.

Ajax also retained Anton Gaaei and Kasper Dolberg. Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly wanted to sign Gaaei, but no transfer materialised, while Dolberg likewise stayed in Amsterdam. Former Ajax defender Nicolás Tagliafico was considered by Atlético Madrid, although talks with Olympique Lyon did not produce an agreement.

Elsewhere in the Eredivisie, Feyenoord kept both Givairo Read and Anis Hadj Moussa. Read was said to have come close to joining AS Roma, while Feyenoord resisted serious interest in Hadj Moussa. PSV striker Ricardo Pepi also remained in the Netherlands after the club and Fulham failed to agree when his proposed move should take place.

Cody Gakpo stayed at Liverpool despite reported attention from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. Liverpool had already added Bradley Barcola to their squad but still declined to release the Netherlands international, with no agreement reached over a fee. Jayden Oosterwolde was another Dutch player linked with Roma without completing a move, while Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee stayed amid interest from Everton, Juventus and Fiorentina.
