Ajax and Barcelona legends to honour Johan Cruyff in charity match
Former players from both clubs will meet at the Johan Cruijff Arena on the anniversary of Cruyff’s Ajax first-team debut.

Ajax and Barcelona will celebrate Johan Cruyff’s legacy with a legends match at the Johan Cruijff Arena on 15 November. The date marks exactly 62 years since Cruyff made his debut for Ajax’s first team, before becoming one of football’s most influential figures.
Proceeds from the match will be donated to the Johan Cruyff Foundation. Cruyff established the organisation to encourage children to become more physically active. It has since developed Cruyff Courts around the world and organised sporting projects for children who might otherwise lack those opportunities.
Several former players who represented both Ajax and Barcelona have agreed to participate. Patrick Kluivert, Frank de Boer, Ronald de Boer, Jari Litmanen, Richard Witschge, Roger García and Bojan Krkic are among those named, although it has not yet been confirmed which side each will represent.
Ajax’s contingent will also include Wesley Sneijder, Edwin van der Sar, Siem de Jong and Jan Vertonghen. Phillip Cocu, another former player of both clubs, is set to take part for Barcelona.
