ADO Den Haag secure long-term contract extension for Kilian Nikiema

ADO Den Haag goalkeeper Kilian Nikiema has signed a new long-term contract with the club, according to VI. The 23-year-old has been part of ADO for a decade, having joined the youth academy before progressing through the age groups and establishing himself in the senior side.

Nikiema became ADO’s first-choice goalkeeper last year and has now made 84 official appearances for the club. His biggest achievement to date came last season, when the Hague side won the Keuken Kampioen Divisie title and earned promotion to the Eredivisie.

Technical director Mark Wotte welcomed the agreement, highlighting Nikiema’s development from academy player to senior goalkeeper. He said the homegrown player had become an important member of the team since claiming the starting role and had demonstrated a broad range of qualities. Wotte added that ADO were pleased to have reached a lengthy extension with him.

The announcement follows ADO’s return to Eredivisie action. They lost away to AZ on Saturday evening in their first match back at the top level. FC Groningen will visit on Sunday for ADO’s first Eredivisie fixture in front of a full WerkTalent Stadion since spring 2020. The club had been outside the division since suffering relegation in 2021.
